Frame by Frame is an independent analog film lab built around one belief: film
photography should be accessible, uncompromised, and shared.
This project exists to push back against rising costs, shrinking access, and the quiet
disappearance of film culture from everyday practice. Frame by Frame is not a nostalgia
project and not a reseller operation. It is a working lab and a growing community, built
by people who actively shoot, process, and care about film.

ABOUT US
Frame by Frame began as a hands on process.
The project started when its founder returned to film photography and chose not to send
rolls away. Development, scanning, chemistry, and workflow refinement were all
learned independently through experimentation, repetition, and direct involvement at
every stage of the process. Over time, this personal setup evolved into a lab capable of
producing consistent, professional grade results.
Elisa has been part of Frame by Frame from the beginning, shaping the visual identity,
branding, and tone of the project. While one side focused on the technical and
operational foundation, the other defined how the lab communicates, looks, and feels.
Frame by Frame was never intended as a solo effort. It was built collaboratively,
deliberately, and from the ground up.

WHAT FRAME BY FRAME IS ABOUT
A Lab with Intent
Frame by Frame exists because the current film landscape has lost balance.
Film is becoming more expensive without becoming better. Access is shrinking, labs are
disappearing or outsourcing, and prices continue to rise. Frame by Frame was created
to offer a different model, one built on value, transparency, and control.
This is not a lab chasing trends or aesthetics.
It is a lab built around process.
Everything offered has been tested in house, refined through repeated use, and
designed for photographers who actually shoot.
Value Over Scarcity
Frame by Frame is not built around artificial scarcity or inflated margins.
Lower prices are achieved through:
• working directly with bulk film
• small batch handling
• in house development and scanning
• removing unnecessary intermediaries

THE FILM
Frame by Frame works with professional cinema origin film stocks adapted for still
photography.
These films are selected for their:
• wide exposure latitude
• smooth highlight roll off
• strong tonal separation
• reliable colour response across lighting conditions
They are designed to be pushed, pulled, and experimented with while retaining
consistency and structure.
Each roll is prepared in controlled, small batches to ensure uniform handling from cut to
cut. The emphasis is on reliability and performance, not novelty.
Black & White Film
The black & white offering is built around a classic, versatile emulsion known for:
• strong midtone separation
• controlled contrast
• pronounced grain character when pushed
• flexibility across different developers
It performs reliably across genres, from street and documentary to portraiture, and
rewards deliberate exposure and processing choices.
This is black & white film meant to be used, not preserved.

DEVELOPMENT & SCANNING
All development and scanning at Frame by Frame is done in house.
There is no outsourcing and no unknown pipeline. Processes are designed around
consistency rather than speed, using stable chemistry, controlled temperatures, and
repeatable workflows.
Scanning is tuned to produce clean, neutral files that preserve dynamic range and allow
photographers full control over their final look.
If a service is offered, it is because it has been tested and refined internally.

Frame by Frame is built for photographers who shoot regularly.
Bundles and subscriptions are designed to:
• reduce cost per roll
• simplify the shooting to processing cycle
• remove friction from repeat shooting
The focus is not volume, but continuity, making film photography easier to sustain as a
regular practice.

THE COMMUNITY ALBUM
Frame by Frame is not only a lab. It is a community.
The Community Album is a monthly initiative created to give film photographers
visibility, recognition, and a shared platform. Eligible customers can submit selected
images from their rolls, which are shared publicly and engaged with by the community.
Selected work is permanently featured in the Community Album, and photographers are
rewarded with film and processing to continue shooting.
The emphasis is not competition, but participation. The goal is to keep film photography
social, visible, and alive.

LOOKING FORWARD
Frame by Frame is at the beginning of a longer roadmap.
Over the coming months, the project aims to expand film offerings, introduce positive
slide film if conditions allow, continue bringing back well loved stocks in accessible
formats, and grow the Community Album into a broader platform for film photographers.
Growth is intentional. Expansion follows quality.
